  • I’ll never forget the first time I walked into a stationery shop in Florence. Among the beautifully decorated postcards and stationery were full sheets of marbled paper, swirled in rich greens, golds, and blues. The colors… The motion each pattern created… It was a sight to behold.

I purchased a few sheets to bring home for inspiration, and eventually, my mother framed some for my bedroom. Seeing the pattern daily has brought an appreciation for the techniques and artistry that perfects water marbling.

Today, the art of paper marbling is a prized craft in Italy. The process is quite hypnotizing, really. First, a basin is filled with water where colored inks are added that float on the surface. A comb is then used to create elegant swirls and a truly intricate pattern that is mesmerizing. The paper is placed on top of the water gently, where it absorbs the ink. The results are fascinating.

I worked with artists to create my very own version of marbled color and flow combinations for my new bathrobes and pajamas, upholding the Italian heritage of this amazing technique. I hope its beauty fills your days and nights with exuberant color and of course,  comfort.
